Meet Trixie
Beatrix (Bea / Trixie) Samuelsson has been a freelance media consultant since 2018, working in video editing and photography for the majority of that time.
With photography, she loves the feminine form. She is passionate about body positivity and alternative clothing styles, and this shines through in her work. Being a trans woman herself, she's experienced first hand the impact that empowerment through art can have.
She is RACK friendly, open-minded, and willing to take on almost anything you can throw at her.
With half a screen degree under her belt, video editing is where she has the most formal training. She loves working efficiently through projects, and specialises in comedic videos. She has brilliant comedic timing – being shortlisted for national awards for her radio show in 2020 – and prides herself on an efficient and effective workflow.
You can find her social medias linked in the masthead, or reach out to her via bea [at] lab-bea [dot] com.
Generative Image Models & Machine Learning Usage Statement
I do not use generative image models, more commonly referred to as Artificial Intelligence, within my art. I refuse to acknowledge such software as AI, as they are not intelligent like a human and cannot replace human creativity (and that's ignoring the sheer amount of power required to create and train those models and the impact that has on the environment.)
That being said, I do edit my images like any other artist and (for better or worse) my tools of choice are from Adobe. Minor touch-up and masking tools that I use have some machine learning elements built in, which I did not ask and worked fine without it. Where such tools have the option to disable machine learning I do so, however the "off" button is getting rarer...
I intend, in the long run, to move away form Adobe to software that does not include such features (such as darktable or similar) but until I find the time to learn new software and build an entirely new workflow, I'm stuck with what I know.
Generative machine learning tools do not create art, they create approximations of art and can never replace a human artist.
